Make Up, Camera, Action!

There are so many components to making a great shoot for Betty & Betts. One of them is finding a hair and make up artist that can do exactly what you are looking for. Someone who turns your ideas and mood boards into reality.

Well we found the girl and she’s ace! Jemma from Jemma Grace is wonder woman in hair, make up and nails. She has worked on our last two shoots in freezing conditions with very early mornings and at times in tight spaces!

The Betties wanted to get behind the brains or her talent so we caught up with Jemma to see where this delivery of gorgeousness comes from.DSC_6278

An exclusive interview with Neil Raja – photographer to the Betties!

He makes us get up at 4am to be ready for the shoot, he starts work at sunrise and then the magic happens and we don’t really mind that we have only had 3 hours sleep!! Our AW14 photo shoot was shot by the one and only Neil Raja. We have worked together for last 3 seasons. He has been making the Betty products look bold and beautiful and just like you want one right now!!!

Neil sees no limits with photography which is why working with him is fantastic! The more obscure the better and thats a dream for the Betties. He has worked on many projects from music dj’s to chocolate brands, portraits to dancers. With such a diverse portfolio we wanted to get under skin of what are his biggest loves and what are his greatest challenges with lots in between. So cuppa tea at the ready as you are in for a treat!

Sneak peek – The Betties SS14 photo shoot

Ever wondered what happens behind the scenes of a real-life fashion shoot? Surrounded by fly-away balloons and beautifully bright leather bags in the grounds of an English country house,  Betty & Betts reveal exclusive behind-the-scenes shots to show how it’s done. We also caught up with founder Tanya Clarke to ask her how the SS14 campaign  came together.

At a beautiful country house in Tring, Berkhamstead. It is owned by a lovely couple who are the trustees for an amazing charity called Glo in Burundi.

Who took part?

Neil Raja of New Road Collective was our ace photographer and beautiful model Eva Marie-Kung showed off our bags. Gemma Grace was our make-up artist and did a great job. Altogether, a brilliant team!

What inspired the shoot?

The anticipation of coming into summer with picnics and outdoor party days ahead! And my love for the countryside – I’m a country bumpkin at heart!

What was the highlight?

Being in a beautiful house with a gorgeous great dane called Bella and exploring the huge property for our shoot whilst trying not to get lost in the maze in the garden. Although we woke up on a very cold misty day, Eva did well keeping warm with a hot water bottle stuffed up her clothes!

Behind The Scenes

With our new AW13 range available in a matter of weeks, the Betties have been thinking of that early morning start when all the new range magic happened on location for their AW13 shoot. A far cry from the inner caverns of the flower market in India for SS13, this time we took to the streets of sophisticated South Kensington to the infamous Michelin building.

This gorgeous art deco house, built in 1911 is partly owned by the lovely Terrance Conran. I tell you, they make dull boring car tyres look shopping at Selfridges, its an amazing piece of architecture.

Visited by the rich and famous for coffee in the cafe or a delicate meal in the restaurant, this building is stunning. Unfortunately Paul McCartney did not turn up that morning but the coffee is great and service excellent!
